The Canadian province of Ontario had 18 new police facilities planned and built on the basis of stringent sustainability standards that meet the requirements of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) silver certification, including green building methods and energy-efficient design. The facilities set new standards for public buildings and better support the demands of modern police operations.
With the Ontario Provincial Police Modernization Project, HOCHTIEF Solutions North America secured its second public-private partnership (PPP) project in Canada. The 18 police facilities include seven police detachments, eight forensic identification units and three regional headquarters. The Central Regional Headquarters in Orillia were completed in November 2012 after a two-year construction period, thus keeping the project right on schedule and budget.
