Rail stations · Project Example
The specialists at HOCHTIEF Solutions used 1,400 metric tons of steel in the new orbital railway hall at Berlin’s Ostkreuz Station. Completed in 2012, it now defines the look of the station, which is over 140 years old. But the hall is not the only impressive feature here: The station’s inner workings were also refurbished while operations continued at “full steam,” without disrupting regular regional and commuter services. Elements added include two new platforms and several rail bridges. This central regional transportation hub has now been thoroughly refurbished and upgraded— and the flow of over 110,000 passengers who use it every day has been greatly eased.
