PPP got things moving at the Herren Tunnel in Lubeck: Instead of a new bridge, a tunnel was built. This keeps the traffic flowing, and users can reach their destination faster and with greater reliability. The Herren Tunnel in Lubeck is around one kilometer long andis one of Germany’s first toll roads. The contract with the project company, Herrentunnel Lubeck GmbH & Co. KG, was signed in March 1999 and construction started in October 2001. The project company planned, financed and built the project. In addition, it will operate the tunnel until 2035, ensuring smooth traffic and providing maintenance. After that, the tunnel will be handed over to the Hanseatic City of Lubeck. The project’s investment volume is around EUR 78.5 million.
