HOCHTIEF is planning the construction of a 424-room Motel One-brand hotel on a lot of some 3,000 square meters on Cäcilienstrasse. The seven-story building will be fitted out in line with the operator's standard for a Budget Design Hotel. Features for this category include a service area and ancillary rooms for storage, personnel and technology. A lobby with reception, a breakfast room, lounge and bar are foreseen for guest use. Dining facilities will be augmented by outdoor seating in the inner courtyard and on Cäcilienstrasse.
A four-level Contipark parking garage is to be built below the hotel with 363 spaces for short-term and long-term parking and for the use of the hotel guests.
The hotel will have a closed structure, built around two inner courtyards. The building height will be oriented to the neighboring buildings, some of which are listed. An architectural competition (whereby multiple firms of architects will be contracted) will decide the look of the future facade. The process which, in consultation with the City of Cologne, will determine the winner, is due to be concluded in September 2015.
