Subsidiary HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions North America Inc., which has its headquarters in New York, was founded at the beginning of 2008. The company specializes in the growing PPP market in the USA and Canada, in the segments of transportation infrastructure and social infrastructure. The company also has an office in Toronto.
In 2010 HOCHTIEF won two PPP contracts in North America, thus gaining entry to the local market. In April, the Alberta government contracted the company to build and operate ten schools in the Canadian province (Alberta Schools Alternative Procurement: ASAP II). In September, the company was awarded the contract for its second PPP project in Canada. In Ontario Province it has planned, financed and constructed a total of 18 police facilities, including seven police stations, eight forensic labs, and three command centers. In September 2012, HOCHTIEF reached financial close for twelve further schools in Alberta Province (ASAP III). With the sale of its shares in the ASAP II project (2013), in the Ontario Provincial Police project (2015) as well as in the ASAP III project, HOCHTIEF realized mature assets.
Alongside the Northeast Anthony Henday Drive in Edmonton, Alberta/Canada, and the Presidio Parkway, California/USA, the company is developing already the third major PPP transportation infrastructure project in North America: In the center of Montreal, Canada, a consortium including HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions will construct the new Champlain Bridge across the St. Lawrence River. The partners will plan, finance, build and operate the project.
